A GROWING STORY

since 1950

We were born here in Pistoia in the heart of Tuscany, the undisputed cradle of culture and beauty.

70 years ago in our lands we planted the first seeds, watered the first cultivations and looked after the first small plants with which time have grown just like our activity and all the people that animate it.

Passion for our land, will for hard work, a profound respect for nature as well as for our collaborators and our clients. These are values we cultivate with care and which guide us in our choices. Always.

Our story tells about two families, Innocenti and Mangoni that together gave birth to an important nursery reality dedicating more and more to the sustainable cultivation.

Agostino Innocenti and Marcello Mangoni were the first to grow and to take care of the plants. They then saw them sprout and turn into strong blooming trees making it easy for them to fall in love with their work.

It’s thanks to the passion that they have passed on to their children and grandchildren that the company has been able to grow and to develop in Italy and worldwide.

Our work starts off from covering tiny seeds in soil and carries on until each plant finds a new home in your landscape making it unique.

I&M PLANT.APP is the digital nursery of Innocenti & Mangoni Piante.

We aim to put at disposal the digitalization of our nurseries to our clients in order to improve supply and consulting services.

I&M PLANT.APP allows each of our customers, be these Garden Centres, Landscaping Companies, Plant Nurseries, Public Bodies or General Contractors, to virtually enter in our nursery, discover all the varieties of plants we grow, choose preferred quantities and sizes and place an order.

We like to think that our plants are an integral part of our family and of our land.

We look after them with consistency and love in the fertile plain in Pistoia of over 320 hectares where we grow 1500 varieties of ornamental plants of every shape and size, trees and shrubs, Mediterranean species, fruit trees, roses, species grown using topiary techniques from natural shapes to the most geometrical or eccentric designs.

In recent years, with the rapid acceleration of climate change, we are all called to plan the future of the next generations. Especially a nursery company like ours must be at the forefront in dealing with this programming, because plants are essential for life.

This is why we lay the foundations every day to improve, add and strengthen the idea of a responsible and sustainable nursery. Programming also means attention to innovations.

This is why we are introducing technology in our nurseries that allows saving resources, continuous monitoring of production processes and consequently reducing waste.

Our eco-sustainable production cycles are recognized by MPS (class A) and GLOBAL GAP environmental certification, internationally recognized and certifying the eco-sustainability of the plants produced by our company.

QUALITY IN A SUSTAINABLE NURSERY

Water management

We are very attentive to water management through the use of localized irrigation systems on all of our nurseries. In each production unit there is a recovery system for the water not absorbed by our plants.

To date we have installed on the roofs of our warehouses, photovoltaic systems for a total of 250 KW, for the needs of our productions, with the prospect of reaching 500 KW in the coming months.

Use of natural mulch, produced from wood waste to fight in a sustainable way the development of “weeds” in our container crops.

100% recyclable and eco-sustainable pots

100% recyclable and eco-sustainable pots, i.e. free of molecules derived from fossil coal, have been used for some years for the production of young plants and for the entire range intended for garden centers.

We invested heavily in this production technique in order to guarantee the availability of a vast range of products for our clients, always ready for delivery and planting.

Our use of containerised growing techniques allows us to work without having to consider the plants’ physiological development cycle, which otherwise restricts the periods in which operations can be carried out.

This production technique is employed in our nurseries using substrates prepared specifically on the basis of the soil requirements of each variety, both for open ground planting and protected areas in greenhouses and shade tunnels, allowing us to maintain top quality standards throughout the year.

OPEN GROUND GROWING

An important sector of our production is represented by this tecnique, which takes advantage of the fertility of the soil of the plain of Pistoia.

Today more than 50% of our surface are cultivated in the ground. Compared to the past we have modernized the whole production process, with the use of modern agricultural machinery, increased the distance between rpws, implemented a multi years program of transplants, applying scupulously all cultivation tecniques required by each variety in cultivation.
